| Tiivistelmä: | The USA-needs more innovation. If there is some consensus about the benefits of innovation, there is less agreement on whether or how innovation can be promoted. Among those who believe that innovation can be encouraged, there are at least three sets of views. Each of these reflects a distinct model of the innovative process. All the three can be applied in the USA. These three models of innovation, the planned innovation or the French model, the Michael Porter or industry-cluster model, and the Jane Jacobs or regeneration model are described. |
