Tiivistelmä:Finland's largest cable network, Helsinki Television (HTV) was established in 1973, and it was the first company in Europe to start regular broadcasts. HTV is also a pioneer of Pay-TV. Cable TV got its biggest boost with the introduction of satellite broadcasting in Europe. HTV was also the first European cable system to carry satellite channels in 1982. As cable is considered a public utility, the Finnish PTT is the largest cable operator. However, the three major networks are privately owned.
