| Tiivistelmä: | This paper will examine the changing market structure and technical innovations in the European steel industry during the 1980s. The role of the "Manifest Crisis" policies (1980-1988) of the European Community (EC) will be examined in detail. During this period, the European Commission issued site-level production quotas to stabilize prices while simultaneously allowed for private exchange of quota rights to help reallocate production toward lower cost suppliers. |
