Tiivistelmä:Open source is a term for software published under license that does not give any property rights to the developers. The authors refer to the cases of Red Hat and Netscape to show that the open source community may refuse to cooperate with commercial firms. The relationship between these firms and the open source community can be framed as social capital. Developers are mainly motivated by norms of social responsibility and general reciprocity. If commercial firms do not respect these norms, social capital will be destroyed. Therefore the relationship to the open source community has to be nurtured by following the rules of the game.
