Tiivistelmä:The literature on applicant reactions to recruitment procedures has mostly concentrated on the concept of procedural justice. The other applicant reaction mechanisms and variables affecting the job choice have usually been ignored. An extensive field study is presented in the article; the aim of the study was to examine the mentioned other mechanisms and variables affecting the applicantÂ’s job choice. Data was gathered among 588 Canadian applicants to 215 organizations. The authors developed an integrated model combining the three mechanisms of procedural justice, expectancy and signals which control the pay, location and marketability. The model was then tested by structural equation modeling. The results show how signal and expectancy mechanisms affect the intentions and job choice of applicants. The effect seems to be stronger with applicants who have more opportunities and know less about the organization before the interview.
