| Tiivistelmä: | Establishment-level data is used to examine the impact on union/non-union pay differentials of the industrial relations setting in which the bargaining takes place. The pre-entry closed shop is found to be of prime importance for the pay of both skilled and semi-skilled manual workers.However, within any group there is considerable variation,and it is found that only a minority of establishments pay significantly more than they would in the non-union sector. |
