| Tiivistelmä: | A major feature of innovation competition is that the prize that is generated from exclusive property rights ensured by a patent system will become available only to the first firm that introduces an innovation. As a result, innovation competition is often modeled as a race where first place earns the largest or only prize. Investigated are equilibrium research and development investment strategies of firms endowed with different innovation potentials. To address this issue, two stages of innovation are permitted and a simple stochastic game model involving two firms developed. |
