| Tiivistelmä: | Consider service facilities with two or more servers in tandem. All customers will obtain service in the same order, and an unlimited queue may form in front of each server. In some systems, the order of the servers is technologically constrained. However, in other cases, the order of the servers does not affect the total service customers obtain from the facility as a whole. Are considered systems in which the servers are not constrained to be in a particular order. The problem is the selection of an order for the servers that minimizes the total expected customer delay. |
