PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL
Kieli:eng
Tiivistelmä:In a research project sixty upper level managers were interviewed in order to explore the appraisal process. It was discovered that the executives wanted to talk about their experiences as appraisees rather than appraisers. They continually focused on their own concerns and frustrations as appraisees. Results suggested that executive performance appraisals are typically conducted very badly. The lack of adequate performance feedback was found to be a serious obstacle in career advancement. Executives believed that the higher one rose in the organization the lower the quality of appraisals would be. Appraisals impact on salary increase was examined too. Causes of appraisal mess are listed. Suggestions for improving this process are made.
