| Tiivistelmä: | Cost and operation of inventory depends a great deal on what happens to demands when the system is out of stock. Many of the classical models assume that these demands are either completely backordered or completely lost. However, in many real inventory systems it is more reasonable to assume that some of the excess demand is backordered and the rest is lost. Analysed is an inventory model which is appropriate when demand is low but the item is expensive, so that the cost of ordering is negligible compared with the cost of holding and shortages. |
