Tiivistelmä: | Employees are not motivated by reason alone. Enthusiasm - too often lacking - may be the difference between successful and unsuccessful leadership and management. While spontaneous enthusiasm is appreciated, it can also be a learned behaviour and, as such, should be part of corporate training programmes. The concept of enthusiasm is examined. The risks of being enthusiastic are discussed. A manager who expresses enthusiasm runs a risk that some may criticize his lack of an "appropriate" managerial image being calm, cool, and collected (that is keeping his or her emotions under control). The results of several studies on enthusiasm are summarized. |
