| Tiivistelmä: | Two common experiences can send managers into a crisis of self-examination and doubt: They are unable to prevent their boss from making the wrong decision or they fail to convince the boss to do something that needs to be done. There are strategies, however, that make the situation easier and more productive for both parties. Three incidents are described which are disguised versions of real conflicts reported by individuals from a group of 100 senior managers who participated in an executive development program at INSEAD, the international management school in Fontainableau, France. Deciding when to fight or adapt and when to withdraw or wait and choosing which method to use matters of judgement. |
