Tiivistelmä:Europe is suitable area for testing regularities of growth because its countries share a common set of institutions, policies and resource endowments. This article takes a historical perspective to find various European development patterns for different epochs. Development trends and growth are analyzed on the basis of Chenery and Syrqui’s approach to European development pattern and Gerschenkron’s early starters’ and latecomers’ development patterns. The results prove that there are similarities to different growth theories.
