| Tiivistelmä: | Job sharing appears to be a viable option for flexible employment. It is a way to retain qualified employees who can't handle a 9-to-5 job. Job sharing offers benefits not only for the workers, but for the employer as well: valuable employees can stay with the firm part time; job sharing employees experience less burnout; job-sharing team brings a broader range of abilities etc.. The case of Traveller Insurance Co. is described. This company in 1982 designed an "Older Americans Program" to help to keep older employees in the workforce on a part-time basis. Some drawbacks of job sharing are also mentioned: doubles paperwork, insurance costs etc.. |
