Tiivistelmä: | By nature, everyone brings preconceived stereotypes to the workplace. In fact, many people have learned that older employees are somehow less capable than their younger co-workers. Then perhaps because of negative stereotypes, formal and informal discrimination occurs. As a result of mostly the latter form of bias, older workers form their own self-protective subculture, which validates the prejudice. Two types of aging exist. Physical aging that can slow down the ability to adapt is the first. There's another, less real but more insidious type of aging. This is an ageism that is imposed by a younger, faster moving society and its organizations. |
