| Tiivistelmä: | The conclusion of a report on the management of the Cadbury Schweppes group was that it needed to focus on its core businesses, food and drinks, and shed all of its peripheral concerns. A whole tier of management was cut out and voluntary redundancy programme instituted, bringing the total headcount down by 16 p.c. in the first year. Services like buying and research and development were delegated to the four business divisions. The result of these and other measures was a huge release of energy, as the old hierarchy gave way to a system of direct accountability through profit centres. |
