| Tiivistelmä: | There will be ferocious competition in the European bond markets after Emu is carried out. Global houses are making in roads while domestic players still have a stranglehold. The best opportunities are in countries where capital-market deregulation has been slowest. The efficiency benefits of a single currency may lift European debt markets to a size close to that of the U.S. Pension reform in Europe could create an investor base for debt not dissimilar to the spread of pension and mutual funds that are the top buyers of bonds in the USA. The US investment investment banks foresee a bulge bracket developing in Europe. |
