| Tiivistelmä: | This article reviews some of the significant changes that have influenced NATO in the last decade. In addition, changes on the horizon - in terms of membership and the implementation of NATO's new strategic doctrine -- are investigated. NATO's future is also assessed in terms of the threat of terrorism, peacekeeping activities and defence burden sharing. NATO has weathered momentous changes during the last decade and will confront yet further significant events over the next decade. |
