That means facing a heavily competitive environment worldwide.The effort to capture larger market shares will squeeze profit margins. The third Japanese invasion of the American auto market is under way. How can the USA prepare for the 1990s? First, they must continue to focus on the basics of running the business. Second, they must accept change and deal with it in more imaginative and more efficient ways. And third, the automotive industry and government must work more cooperatively and more efficiently to achieve mutual goals.
