| Tiivistelmä: | This study explores the economic functions of popular music festivals, concentrating on their importance for classifications processes in the music industry. This paper presents economic functions that are fulfilled by music festivals, distinguished between, on the one hand, the production, distribution and retailing functions, and, on the other, signalling, certification and classification functions. Also new definitions for the concepts "popular music festival" and "aural good" are proposed. |
