| Tiivistelmä: | The unprecedented success of Japanese firms in certain industries in penetrating the USA markets has been perhaps the most startling record in international industrial competition over the last decade. The relationship between Japanese exports to the USA and distributional activities of Japanese affiliates in the USA wholesale trade sector is examined by using a sample of Japanese exporting industries matched to USA industries. The statistical analysis provides evidence supporting the hypothesis that Japanese direct investment in distribution has strongly promoted Japanese exports to the USA markets. |
