| Tiivistelmä: | Using the example of Field Tool Supply, a distributor of industrial cutting tools, it is shown how a declining company can be revitalized by the ingenious efforts of a talented top manager who had purchased the assets of his company. The story has started in 1984. The tasks which were needed to put the company back in a leadership position included cost control, marketing, developing organizational culture, planning and implementing a computer-based information system, middle management development and a new sales incentive system's formulation. The new company mission statement is described and analyzed. The remarkable results of the revitalization program are listed and plans for the future are sketched. |
