| Tiivistelmä: | A US Department of Commerce document entitled "The National Export Strategy: A Strategic Response" released in September 1996, and based on work by the Trade promotion Co-ordinating Committee, an interagency task force involving 20 agencies with export promotion responsibilities or interests, suggested that in 1994-96 US business enterprises engaged in international transactions lost at least 36 international contracts worth USD 11 billion because of foreign bribery activity. According to allegations made by the US business enterprises themselves, however, foreign bribery during that same period resulted in the loss of 139 international contracts worth USD 64 billion? Obviously, these two estimates differ substantially. |
