| Tiivistelmä: | The issue is addressed how sectorial differences affect companies' international competitiveness and economic performance. Furthermore, an analysis is provided on the evolution of profit margin in imperfect competition. Especially, the problems of structural stability of firms in monopolistic and/or oligopolistic sectors are investigated. The results of previous studies are critically examined. A model of sectorial competition is developed. The relationships between exports and profitability, exports and the effective combination of factors of production, and exports and competitiveness are discussed. Finally, the results are applied to the analysis of French industry. |
