Tiivistelmä:This paper deals with women civil engineers working within the British construction industry. Using a feminist poststructuralist framework this study aims to find out how these women perceive work-life balance and how their personal roles affect the male work practices of construction industry. One of the purposes of the article is also to identify the strategies these women civil engineers use in finding work-life balance. The findings of the analysis indicate that combining the spheres of work and home is still a great challenge to most professional women and especially the ones with caring responsibilities. It was also found that some of the most highly qualified women chose to concentrate on interesting work instead of pursuing powerful roles within the organization.
