| Tiivistelmä: | This article analyses representations of the Japanese salaryman and Japanese organization in Japanese manga during the period of time from the mid-1980s to the present day. The authors argue that, in Japanese manga, salaryman characters are presented in a sympathetic, but also in a critical light, and support for and criticism of the Japanese and American organizational models is presented. It is also suggested that manga may provide salarymen with opportunities to re-evaluate and cope working in contemporary Japanese business organizations. |
