| Tiivistelmä: | Faced with new economic challenges, Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad is pushing Malaysian industry to open its wallet and hit the road. There is a surreal, desolate air about the highway between the Adriatic port city of Durres and Albania's capital, Tirana. Thousands of concrete pillboxes sown by the paranoid and now defunct communist regime line the road and dot the farmlands in every direction. Now, concrete is being put to more peaceful uses. Apartment blocks are sprouting up in Tirana and its suburbs. |
