| Tiivistelmä: | A data storage system which combines conventional magnetic disks (MD) and write-once read-many (OD or WORM) optical disks (which offer high density low cost storage capability) is analyzed. The data is first stored on MD's and then periodically copied to OD's according to a certain method. The process is known as file reorganization. The problem is similar to deterministic inventory problem. A model, which indicates how often files should be refreshed and reorganized, is presented. |
