Tiivistelmä:Respondents were asked to describe their quality circles programme, in the light of several core factors, such as top management commitment, training for participation in QC, middle management commitment, voluntary QC participation, the role of QC objectives, availability of feedback and others. Top management commitment was deemed to be the most important factor contributing to QC longevity. Issues of shared power and decentralization of decision making pose a threat to managers in QCs. Inappropriate reward structures for middle management and unrealistic expectations from top management discourage participation Trust between management and employees must be established and nurtured. Labour unions must be considered.
