| Tiivistelmä: | Although targeted retirement saving accounts have been available for just over a decade, the balances in these accounts already represent a substantial fraction of the financial assets of many current retirees. Current trends suggest that these accounts will play an even more important role in the future. In this paper, the authors present new data on the finfncial status of U.S. households reaching retirement age during the last decade, document the growth of retirement saving accounts and assess the effect of growing contributions to these accounts on other components of household wealth. |
