| Tiivistelmä: | Like the commencement of the professional career after the years at school or the course of study, retirement at the end of one's working-life results in a great upheavel. Whereas the normal habits, customs, tasks and roles disappear, others are built up and extended. Nevertheless, the decision as to how and when to retire is seldom left to the discretion of the employee. This article reports on the results of 25 interviews. Alternative forms of retirement can widen the decision-making latitude of the individual. |
