| Tiivistelmä: | It is nearly ten years since China launched its campaign to enter the GATT/WTO. This paper addresses the key issues of market access in the negotiations. In particular, it examines the implications of different rates of tariff reductions by China both for itself and its major trading partners. To put market access in the broader context of China's WTO accession, the following section outlines the disagreements between China and its major trading partners regarding the terms of accession. Section 3 discusses the significance of China's foreign trade in the global economy. |
