| Tiivistelmä: | Supply chains represent material flows in a logistical system from the supplier to the customer side. Typical structures of such flows are given by serial, convergent and divergent systems, respectively. Some basic concepts for control of material flows (like MRP, base-stock control and local control) have been developed. Additionally various control rules to be applied within those concepts are suggested. In this paper we address the problem of assassing these concepts and rules are systematically analyzed regarding both general optimality properties and existence of optimization methods for determination of control parameters. It turns out that the results heavily depend on the material flows structure. Summarizing it must be stated that a definite ranking of the different control concepts is not possible. |
