| Tiivistelmä: | The paper attempts to reconcile economic freedom and environmentalism. The cases referred are ones of air pollution and waste disposal. In the case of air pollution, the violation of economic freedom and private property rights is that polluters were allowed by law to trespass on other people's land. In the case of waste disposal, the breach of economic freedom and private property rights is no less apparant, although taking alltogether different form. In both cases, however, there is a transgression of the free enterprise ethic. |
