Tiivistelmä:Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken's (SEB) bid for 100 per cent ownership of each of the leading banks in the three former Soviet Baltic republics which it already controls marks a further stage in banking consolidation in the Nordic region. SEB began acquiring shares two years ago in Eesti Uhispank, Estonia's second largest bank, and Latvijas Uhibanka and Viliaus Bankas, the biggest banks in Latvia and Lithuania respectively. Last year it took majority stakes in Uhispank and Unibanks, and raised its holding in Viliaus Bankas to 42 per cent.
