ANALYTICAL REVIEW
ENERGY INDUSTRY
ENERGY COMPANIES
Kieli:eng
Tiivistelmä:The author of the article states that Enron's collapse has hurt big American banks. But not as much as a default by Argentina would. The fallout is likely to be felt most keenly within the energy industry itself, especially among companies that, like Enron, had moved aggressively to profit from trading and marketing electricity and natural gas. In conclusion the author states that it will be a while before energy trading companies - even those with substantial assets - regain the trust they had before the Enron debacle. While Mirant has already signed several profitable deals to sell gas for former Enron clients, getting fresh capital to build new power plants or make acquisitions is much harder than it was six months ago. The paper provides an inset: "Sharing the Pain".
