Tiivistelmä:The author of the article states that vessels too big for the Panama Canal, carrying enough containers to stretch 27 miles, are slashing shipping cost. The paper considers shipping business across the Pacific to and from US and states that although the big container ships cost $100 million, operating costs don't rise as quickly as capacity. In conclusion the author states that even while the new Maersk class is still on the Odense ways, new words likely to disturb port authorities are floating about the shipping business: Suezmax and Malacamax. A container ship that would just squeeze through the Suez Canal would be about 1,300 feet long, with container capacity of some 12,000 TEUs.
