Which standard is used to deliver them remains to be seen. The paper states that the he world has never been more dependent on telecommunications, yet there has never been a worse time to be a telco. At the height of the dotcom boom, mobile operators paid billions of pounds for the privilege of building third generation networks that were going to change the world. In addition to providing rapid access to the internet, 3G also promises to free it from the PC. But by the time it arrives 3G may have been pipped at the post by the less costly more accessible 2.5G technologies currently emerging. |
