Tiivistelmä:The paper states that another Christmas and retailers are facing one of their biggest problems yet; that of the exploding cost and diminishing effectiveness of distribution. Seasonal news reports in Christmas 2000 showed adults fighting over the last few models of Thunderbirds' Tracy Island (complete with audio features) at toy stores across the country. Manufactured in the Far East and imported by Surrey-based Vivid Imaginations, demand for the toy was estimated at 500,000 units but only 60,000 or so reached the shops, thanks to a worldwide shortage of microchips. The Tracy Island incident was not the first demand/supply crisis to hit the toy industry. In 1997 it was the Teletubbies - more than 1m dolls were made but only 300,000 reached the shops in time for Christmas.
