| Tiivistelmä: | Expatriate social networks constitute an under-emphasized area in expatriate (here as: exp. / exps.) literature. This study contributes to the exp. adjustment literature by empirically testing the relationship btw. exp. personal networks and psychological well-being. The study also investigates the hypothesis that exps. from different cultural backgrounds will establish different social networks and adjust differently in China. A survey of 166 exps. in China from North America, Europe and other Asian countries showed significant support for the hypothesis that exp. network characteristics have a direct and significant influence on exp. psychological well-being. In addition, as predicted, exps. in China from different cultural backgrounds established personal networks with different characteristics. |
