Tiivistelmä: | This paper discusses the concept of emotional intelligence (EI) and the debate regarding EI. Its objective is to discredit the claims of Landy, Locke and Conte about the uselessness of emotional intelligence. This article focuses especially on these three critiques: 1) EI is dominated by opportunistic "academics-turned-consultants" who have amassed much fame and fortune based on a concept that is shabby science at best, 2)The measurement of EI is grounded in unstable instruments, that have not demonstrated validity to justify their use, 3) There is weak evidence that EI is related to anything of importance in organizations. |
