Tiivistelmä:In this manuscript, reviewed are the background of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), as well as the ethical foundations of individual privacy. Among others, reviewed are issues of personal privacy, the U.S. Constitutional privacy interpretations, the United Nations (U.N.) Declaration of Human Rights, European Union (EU) Regulations etc. The RFID privacy concerns are three-fold: 1. pre-sales and 2. sales transaction activities, and 3. post-sales uses. It is proposed that by application of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Fair Information Practices outlined for the electronic marketplace (e-commerce), the major privacy issues of RFID can be addressed.
