| Tiivistelmä: | The paper deals with the development of knowledge and know-how in organisations related to their efforts of diversification. It draws on the theoretical debate on path dependency and how the historical roots form the trajectory of organisations. The paper argues against a structural interpretation of path dependency, emphasising the constraining effects of the origin of organizations, only. Rather than to dwell on "lock-in" mechanisms it focuses on the option of mobilizing the historical inheritance in efforts to launch out on a new course (original in Norwegian). |
