| Tiivistelmä: | TGI Global Socio-Economic Levels (SELs) have been developed to offer a multi-country socio-economic classification scheme that links together surveys possessing their own national stratification systems. The scheme uses a points-scoring system based on individuals' educational achievement and ownership of selected consumer durables. It is not based on occupational status. The socio-economic groups built using TGI Global SEL are found to correlate well with national systems. The system has been developed and tested using TGI surveys worldwide and all the examples used in this article are based on TGI data. |
