| Tiivistelmä: | The article examines the effects of the 2001 economic crisis on the tourism industry in Turkey. According to the findings, the government and private organizations had not prepared for dealing with a crisis situation, and that it had both positive and negative effects. As a generalization the paper suggests that national culture, the level of economic development, the availability of financial resources, and the knowledge of officials and managers have a direct influence on how such an event is responded to and handled. |
