Tiivistelmä: | The companies making anti-retroviral drugs (against HIV/AIDS) have been accused of ignoring human lives and only thinking about profits by enforcing their patent rights in developing countries. In South-Africa the situation has been intense, and the competition commision has made efforts to reduce excessive pricing. This article discusses whether one can find guidance for drug companies facing these kind of situations in normative marketing ethics. Approaches based on utilitarianism, deontological and virtue ethics are compared with the common goal of maximizing shareholder value. |
