| Tiivistelmä: | The paper examines and interprets speeches and statements given by US president George W. Bush using Scollon and Scollon's (2000) discourse theory and Bach and Harnish's (1979) framework. The latter suggests that communicative acts are classified in terms of the kind of attitude each act expresses. The time period enables the study of Bush's communication strategies during the crisis between USA and Iraq. |
