Tiivistelmä:The way by which firms organize the search for new commercially potential ideas is an important part of the whole innovation process. In the new innovation models it has been suggested that many innovative firms have altered their ways to look for new ideas, and they have adopted open search strategies involving a use of various external actors and sources to assist them to attain and keep up innovation. An extensive study of industrial firms was conducted to find the connections between the firm’s search strategy and innovative performance. The conclusion is that searching deeply and widely is curvilinearly performance related.
