| Tiivistelmä: | In this paper, the equity investments and voting rights (hereafter as: v-rtgs.) controlled by American banks through their trust business are investigated. In addition, it is also studied whether the v-rtgs. help explain their presence on firms' corporate boards. It is found that on average the largest 100 American banks control 10 percent of the v-rgts. of S&P 500 firms. There are also more findings presented in detail. |
