Tiivistelmä:This study analyses the internal economic geographies drawing on regional data for wages and sectoral employment in the five Central and Eastern European countries. It estimates spatial wage and employment gradients inside those countries based on a multi-country new economic geography (NEG) model. Comecon hypothesis is also formulated as an alternative. Findings support both the NEG prediction and the Comecon hypothesis.
